Sadly the round ups of the wild horses and burros continue and lead to slaughter. Our tax dollars pay for this and unless we speak up and stop the actions our wild horse and burro population will go extinct. While these species do not carry the exotic tag, they are unique. Once gone, only in the movies can they come back to life. There is no cloning. Those who survive in sanctuaries are already a step away from their once wild life. Take note. Take action.

Rescue Me

Hey hay everyone. Cantertales was hacked, kidnapped, taken over by some worm. It was terrifying. I came back for refuge after a dark and long winter to find a black page with red print, “taken by Allah” and emoticons with evil eyes and tongues hanging out. Why and for what reason I asked? The answer is simply there is no reason, it wasn’t personal, and this happens and may again by hackers with nothing better to do. So, dear hackers find something better to do, like causes worth caring for. I am back. This time I promise to not neglect the horses and their stories. My Father passed away in March, leaving my Mother and siblings a fractured family. Like the fractured family bands of horses the patriarch passed and now what? My course for grieving sent me on trail rides with groupon coupons. I could get close to what forever heals my spirit, horses. I also spent a few days with Kate in Kern county. She can see her horse, Reno, from her kitchen window. Back in the saddle and looking ahead, wild horses come take me away.

Sometimes, the way the sun glints the chestnut hair that falls in his eyes reminds me of the color of a glowing pumpkin

He’s really tall

It’s hard to know what he’s thinking

But I think he likes me

Did I mention, he’s really beautiful? – he has long smooth muscles and liquid chocolate eyes both soulful and inscrutable?

It really gets to me – the way he trusts me

And I believe he’d protect me if things ever got gnarly

Spending time with him is a guaranteed endorphin rush

It’s pretty sexy – the way he slowly licks my palm

He can run really fast

I went looking for him and he came home with me

I don’t always make good choices, but that time I sure did

I say to him: Let’s grow old together.
